2007 – 2008 WAUWATOSA ADULT
BASKETBALL
RULES & INFORMATION
- Managers are
responsible for the actions of their teammates. It is the responsibility of the manager to inform each
teammate of the rules of our leagues.
- It is recommended by
the Recreation Department for teams to furnish their own team reversible
jersey with numbers (one light side and one dark side).
- Games may start with
only four players. (Five minute grace period).
- The home team is
responsible for providing a game ball.
The home team is listed second on the schedule.
- Games will consist of
two twenty-minute halves with the clock stopping at the last minute of
each half on all violations. The
clock will stop when shooting free throws. The clock does not stop until the shooter has the ball in
his hands. There will be a
three-minute halftime.
- Overtime will last
three minutes. The clock will stop
on all dead balls under one minute of overtime.
- Substitutions must
report to the scorer’s table.
Substitutions may enter the game at a dead ball. If there are two free throws being
shot, the sub must wait until the second free throw.
- Bonus free throws will
be shot on the 7th foul of each half. There will be a double bonus on the 10th foul of
each half.
- On a free throw,
players may leave their lane space as soon as the ball leaves the
shooter’s hand.
- Each team receives two
time outs per half.
- Any player that is
ejected from a game will NOT be eligible to play the next
game. All incidents will be
reviewed on an individual basis.
- Managers will be
responsible for finalizing the individual player form (used as your team’s
roster) before the fourth scheduled game of the season. A forfeit will occur if the roster is
not finalized (at least 5 players) before the fourth scheduled game, or if
a player enters a game that is not on the final roster.
- Only the players that
are listed on the final roster (before the fourth game) will be
eligible to participate in the City Tournament.
- Fouls from the second
half carry over to overtime, and each team gets one additional time out
for each overtime period (plus any remaining from the second half).
- To help cut down on the number of technical fouls
and ejections. Only the manager
will be allowed to talk to the officials.
If the manager is not playing or at the game, then a captain must
be appointed before the start of the game.
- Technical fouls will be called for inappropriate
language, players threatening opponents, players verbally abusing
officials or any other inappropriate gestures, words, or actions. Players may be suspended for more than
one game if these actions happen on a continuous basis. All incidents will be reviewed on an
individual basis.
- A player that receives two (2) technical fouls in a
game will be ejected from the game and will have to leave the gymnasium
and school grounds. Remember that
a player that is ejected from the game will be suspended from the next
scheduled game. Players may be
suspended for more than one game if these actions happen on a continuous
basis. All incidents will be
reviewed on an individual basis.
- **There will be a Zero Tolerance
rule for fighting and retaliation for hard fouls. All players will be ejected from the
game and suspended a minimum of one (1) game. Each incident will be reviewed on an individual basis. Players can be suspended for more games
if it is warranted.**
- The officials will call
intentional fouls for very hard fouls when there is no possibility or
attempt to make a good defensive play at the ball.
- Dunking is NOT
allowed during the game or warm-ups.
Dunking will result in a technical foul.
- A technical foul will
be called for each player entering the game without a number on their
jersey or if their jersey is not the same shade of the team uniform (games
may start with technical foul shots if starting players do not have a
jersey meeting the above guidelines).
- A technical foul will
not be called if a player has to put a T-shirt on because blood is on
their shirt.
- A game will be stopped
if blood is present, and players must leave the game until the bleeding
has stopped. The game will resume
when the blood is cleaned up with rubber gloves.
- Teams forfeiting twice
will be dropped from the league.
Please remember that this is a RECREATIONAL
basketball league. Good luck to
everyone and HAVE FUN!
Managers
will be responsible for finalizing their roster (completely filled out and
signed by each player) before your first game.
Managers may add players to their roster before their fourth game. This means that you cannot add a player to
your roster after the fourth scheduled game of the season. A forfeit will occur if the roster is not
finalized (at least 5 players) before the fourth scheduled game, or if a player
enters a game that is not on the final roster.
