Summer 2008 Dance, Baton, Poms Schedule

Saturday Morning Dance - Fall
K4 & K5
Tap, ballet and jazz dance classes for K4 & K5.  Tap and ballet shoes are required; dance attire preferred. 

Children's Dance - Fall
Learn tap, ballet and jazz from our experienced dance teachers.  This after-school program is offered at area elementary schools, for children in grades K5 - 5.  Instructors will determine class placement according to age, grade and /or ability.  Classes are 45 minutes in length; class times vary by school/level.  Tap and ballet shoes are required.  Dance attire preferred.

Baton Instruction - Fall
Grades 1 - 6
Skill levels for beginner students to advanced twirlers.

Petite Poms
Grades 1 - 5
Young pompon enthusiasts will receive an introduction to pompon activities.  Perform at half-time during a
Junior Raiders football game.

Trinity Irish Dance
No previous dance experience required.  Performance at last class.
Pre-Beginner:  Learn the art form through storytelling, singing, stretching, drilling and learning components of Irish step dancing.
Beginner:  Learn the Jig and Reel, concentrating on proper posture, foot placement, timing and stage presence.

Pre-school Dance - SUMMER
Intro to dance movement stressing rhythm, balance, creativity and FUN!  Leap over puddles, walk on toes, march to music, gallop like ponies and more!
For 3, 4 & 5 yr. olds (age strictly adhered to) 

Beginning Ballet - SUMMER
Arabesque, pas de bouree, glissade, port de bras . . . learn the basics of graceful ballet technique in a class geared to the young beginner.
Age 6 - 9 

Beginning Tap - SUMMER 
You'll learn beginning tap rhythms and foot patterns and combine them into lively routines and dances.  this class is also great for the tapper who wants to "brush up" on technique!
Age 6 - 9 

Beginning Jazz - SUMMER 
Do you want to learn grapevines, jazz squares, rhythmic walking, spins, the twist, and the pony?  Basic jazz patterns and rhythmic will be introduced in a lively and fun setting for the beginning jazz dancer. 
Age 9 - 12 

Intermediate Ballet - SUMMER 
Refine and develop expression as you progress through an acceleration of ballet techniques.  Chaines tour, pas de chat, sissones, cabriole, tour jete, and pirouette are a few of the techniques offered.
Age 9 - 12  

Intermediate Tap - SUMMER 
Add style and pizzazz to your basic rhythms and patterns and tap your way to fame!
Age 9 - 12 

Intermediate Jazz - SUMMER 
Take a step up with more challenging jazz techniques and combinations including jazz runs, leaps, jazz pirouettes, pivots and high kicks.  Previous jazz experience is recommended.
Age 9 - 12

Teen Ballet - SUMMER 
Spin through the basics and take a step up on your ballet technique.  Learn intermediate through advanced jumps, turns and foot patterns, and how to combine them into a dance piece.
Age 13 - 17

Teen  Jazz - SUMMER
In this special class, teens will be introduced to basic jazz techniques including jazz runs, leaps, jazz pirouette, pivots and high kicks,. and will set them to contemporary music.  No previous dance classes required.
Age 13 - 17

Dance Shoes/Attire:
Ballet Slippers and Tap Shoes are required for all classes.  (Teens only need Ballet Slippers.)  Incorrect shoes inhibit effective learning and execution of dance skills.  Shoes may be purchased at Trep-Art (North Ave. & Lilly Rd), Lane Dancewear (Village Court, Elm Grove) or at numerous shoe stores, resale shops or retailers such as Wal-Mart or Playroom Closet (93rd & Greenfield).  It is suggested that you telephone for availability and pricing information.

Dance Attire is strongly preferred.  Leggings are also acceptable.  Blue jeans, slacks, dresses and "baggy" clothing limit the students' flexibility, mobility and participation in much of the movement covered.
